Dear Hiring Team,
I am writing to express my interest in the Software Engineer position for Mechanical Simulation web applications, Job ID 16585.
I am currently working at Synopsys, formerly Ansys, as an R&D Frontend Software Engineer in Lyon, where I contribute to the development of Ansys Digital Safety Manager. My work focuses on building and maintaining complex web interfaces for engineering workflows, with a strong emphasis on frontend architecture, component design, state management, rendering performance, code quality, and long-term maintainability.
What immediately stood out to me in this role is the combination of frontend engineering, simulation workflows, data visualization, and architectural ownership. This is very close to the type of work I have been developing over the past few years: transforming complex technical requirements into clear, reliable, and usable web applications for engineers and domain experts.
In my current role, I work primarily with Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, Signals, and modern frontend architecture patterns. I have contributed to customer-facing engineering software by designing UI features, improving maintainability, participating in code reviews, debugging complex issues, and collaborating with UX, backend, product, and engineering stakeholders in a distributed agile environment. I am especially interested in the challenge of making sophisticated engineering data understandable through intuitive and performant interfaces.
Before joining Ansys, I worked as a Creative Software Engineer at Fleur de Papier, where I built interactive web applications involving advanced visual experiences, WebGL, Vue/Nuxt, Node.js, and data-rich interfaces for cultural and institutional clients. This background gave me a strong sensitivity to usability, visual clarity, performance, and interaction design — qualities I believe are particularly valuable when building tools for simulation post-processing and large technical datasets.
Beyond my professional work, I also maintain FancyUI, an open-source Svelte UI component library focused on polished interactions, animation, and advanced frontend patterns. This project reflects my personal interest in high-quality UI engineering, modern web technologies, and the craft of making complex interfaces feel clear, responsive, and enjoyable to use.
I believe this position represents a very natural next step for me within Synopsys. It connects my current experience in engineering software with my strongest areas of expertise: frontend architecture, interactive visualization, technical problem-solving, and the design of maintainable, high-quality web applications. I would be excited to contribute to the Mechanical Simulation team and help shape web applications that make complex simulation results easier to explore, interpret, and act upon.
Thank you for considering my application. I would be happy to discuss how my experience and motivation align with the needs of the team.
Best regards,
Rama Herbin
